Russia issues WW3 'retaliation' warning to US over Ukraine's Crimea Bridge attacks

The Russian government has issued a clear threat of "unstoppable retaliation" to Ukraine's allies following reports of planned attacks on Crimea.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry, has stated that the Crimean Bridge is once again being targeted. This bridge connects Russia to the Crimean Peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

Zakharova stated that the preparations are being conducted transparently, with a showy display of confidence, and with the complete and explicit backing of the Western nations.

In anticipation of forthcoming shipments of military assistance to Ukraine, she also mentioned the arrival of F-16 jets, which, as per the British, could potentially be utilized in an operation to dismantle the Crimean Bridge.

Furthermore, she emphasized, "We wish to reiterate to Washington, London, and Brussels that any hostile actions towards Crimea will not only be futile but will also face an unstoppable retaliatory strike."

Zakharova also talked about the recent shipment of US-supplied Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to Ukraine, with six of them being shot down over Crimea last week.

Ukraine made use of ATACMS missiles for the initial time on a Russian military airfield in Crimea the previous month, targeting Russian forces in the occupied region, as per US officials.

Last year, the initial batch of missiles arrived, but they were outdated mid-range models that could only reach about 100 miles.

On the other hand, the latest missiles have an impressive range of up to 190 miles, making them capable of targeting numerous Russian military installations in Crimea.

In a recent announcement, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed that their forces successfully intercepted and destroyed four more ATACMS missiles over Crimea, bringing the total count to 15 in the past few weeks.

It's worth noting that Russia has frequently boasted about neutralizing Ukrainian missiles and drones without causing any harm to military targets or infrastructure. However, subsequent reports often contradict these claims.
