Moscow blames US for Crimea strike as UN warns against attacks near nuclear plant

The UN nuclear watchdog has urgently demanded a cessation of the ongoing assaults on a Ukrainian town near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is currently under Russian occupation. This plea comes in the wake of recent drone attacks that targeted two electricity substations supplying the region.

The Russian defense ministry, on the other hand, has accused the United States of providing Ukraine with five missiles that were used in an attack on the Crimean peninsula, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and the injury of over 150 people. The ministry claims that four of these missiles were intercepted by air defense systems, while the fifth exploded in mid-air.

Furthermore, the Biden administration had recently permitted Ukraine to employ longer-range missiles to retaliate against Russian forces, who have been launching an aggressive offensive against Ukrainian cities. Click me

The Russian defense ministry has accused the United States of being responsible for a Ukrainian assault on the Russian-annexed Crimean peninsula using five US-supplied missiles, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, including two children, and injuring 151 others.

According to the ministry, four of the US-provided Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles, which were armed with cluster warheads, were intercepted by air defense systems, while the ammunition of a fifth missile exploded in mid-air. Click me

Russian officials have alleged that American experts had programmed the missiles' flight paths using data from US reconnaissance satellites, placing direct blame on Washington.

"The primary responsibility for the intentional missile strike on the civilians of Sevastopol lies with Washington, which provided these weapons to Ukraine, and with the Kyiv government, from whose territory the attack was launched," stated the ministry. Click me

Following its illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014, Russia now considers the Black Sea peninsula a crucial part of its territory, despite the majority of the international community recognizing it as a sovereign and integral part of Ukraine.
