At least one was killed, and 12 injured in a Russian missile attack on Ukraine's Dnipro

Russian forces launched a missile attack on the city of Dnipro in Ukraine, damaging a nine-story residential building, according to Serhii Lysak, the Governor of the Dnipro region.

Lysak reported that the attack resulted in at least one fatality and 12 injuries, including a seven-month-old girl. Among the six individuals hospitalized is a pregnant woman.

The number of casualties may increase as the rescue and recovery efforts continue.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared photographs depicting the destruction, showing four heavily damaged building floors. Zelensky urged Ukraine's international partners to provide the country with additional air defense systems to help counter such Russian missile strikes.

"That is why we constantly remind all our partners: only sufficient quantity and quality of air defense systems, only sufficient determination of the world can stop Russian terror. We need these solutions, we need a reliable air shield for Ukraine," Zelensky stated.

On the morning of April 19th, 2024, the city of Dnipro, Ukraine's fourth-largest municipality situated in the central-eastern region, was the target of another deadly attack by Russian forces. According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, people have become trapped in their apartments as a result of the assault. Additionally, one man was rescued from a car that had been covered in debris.

Dnipro has served as a crucial logistics and humanitarian hub throughout the ongoing full-scale war in Ukraine. However, the city and its surrounding area have endured a series of lethal attacks launched by Russian troops since 2022.

Regional governor Serhiy Lysak reported that 12 people were injured, including a 7-month-old infant, in the attack. Three of the injured were said to be in severe condition.

Photographs posted by Lysak on the Telegram messaging app, as well as other images circulating on social media, depicted a severely damaged building. Smoke could be seen rising from a large opening in the upper floors of the structure. Additional images showed emergency response teams navigating through piles of debris at the site.

The attack has caused significant damage and led to multiple casualties. The severity of the injuries sustained by some of the victims is of particular concern. The visual evidence shared online paints a stark picture of the devastation wrought by this incident. Authorities will likely continue to provide updates as they investigate the situation and respond to the needs of those affected.

The latest strike in downtown Dnipro partially destroyed a five-story building and caused damage to the local railway station. Tragically, the attack claimed the lives of three individuals and left 24 others injured, as reported by the State Emergency Service.

This latest incident underscores the continued devastation and suffering inflicted upon the people of Ukraine as the conflict rages on. Dnipro's role as a strategic hub has made it a frequent target, and the people of the city have had to endure the horrors of war with resilience and determination.
